- Structure and material composition
- Function of the item (intended and/or emergent)
- Safety rating (biotoxicity, structural hazards, edibility, etc.)
- Magical hazards (if applicable)
- Origins and classification (across multiple disciplines)

If the artifact is valued at 50 gold pieces or more, there is a flat fee of 10 gold for the appraisal.
If the artifact is valued below 50 gold pieces, the appraisal fee is 8% of the item valuation.
